Calories in balaleet: sweet vermicelli with egg

Balaleet has about 168 to 212 kcal per 100 g in analyses from Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the UAE [1][2][3][4]. The lowest, 168, is the Saudi Food and Drug Authority's balaleet with egg and onion, whose vermicelli is drained of its syrup [3].

Per 100 g as served. The Kuwaiti recipe was vermicelli, egg, sugar, oil, rose water, cardamom and saffron [2]. In the Saudi Food and Drug Authority's recipe, 400 g of vermicelli is cooked in syrup made with 125 g of sugar, drained, and topped with two eggs scrambled with onion in ghee [3]; its carbohydrate is available carbohydrate. The UAE analysis lists 12.2 g of fibre per 100 g within its carbohydrate, unusually high for vermicelli [4].
