Voltra

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 18 June 2026 · Last updated: 14 September 2026

This policy explains what Voltra (“we”, “us”) does with information in the Voltra app for iPhone (the “App”) and on voltragym.com. It describes the App as it works today.

1. The short version

2. What stays on your iPhone

By default, everything you enter or record in Voltra is stored on your device: your profile and goals (such as age, sex, height, weight, experience, dietary preferences, allergies, health conditions and injuries you add), training plans and logged sets, meals and water, weigh-ins, cardio, recently scanned meal photos and your coach conversations. Voltra does not sync this data to iCloud or to our servers, apart from what section 4 describes: your name, focus and language if you sign in while setting up, and the backup copy if you turn it on. Like any app’s data, it can be included in your own iPhone backup, which Apple handles.

You can export your profile, completed workouts and cardio as a JSON file from Settings → Privacy & Data → Export My Data.

3. Apple Health

If you allow it, Voltra reads selected Health data (for example steps, active energy, heart rate, resting heart rate, HRV, sleep, workouts, body weight and, if you add those rings, metrics such as VO2 max, blood pressure and blood oxygen) and writes back body weight, water, and completed strength and cardio workouts. You choose each category in Apple’s permission sheet and can change it any time in iOS Settings → Health.

Health data is read and used on your device. We do not send it to analytics services or use it for advertising. Figures based on it are included only in features you choose to use: weigh-ins imported from Apple Health and a training-strain score worked out from workout heart rate in AI coach requests (section 5), and workout heart rate, weigh-ins and cardio details in the optional backup (section 4).

4. Optional account and backup

Signing in with Apple

If you sign in, our server stores:

We keep these sign-up details with your account on our server and use them only for Voltra’s own understanding of how the App is used. They are not analytics events, and we do not send this saved record to any analytics service (section 6 describes the separate usage events, which can include the focus you chose but never your name). We never use them for advertising or marketing and never sell them. None of them are required to sign in, and no other setup answers are saved with your account: sign-up does not collect your age, sex, height or weight. If you choose Not now instead of signing in, none of them are sent. Deleting your account deletes them (section 12).

Voltra does not keep the name from your Apple Account and does not ask for a phone number. Signing in does not upload your workouts or meals, and signing out leaves everything on your phone.

Keeping a copy you can restore

This is off until you turn on Keep a copy I can restore on your account page. It needs an account. While it is on, the App refreshes one compressed copy at most once a day, and when you tap Back up now. Each new copy replaces the last one. The copy contains:

It does not contain photos, your profile, AI conversations, or any other Apple Health data. The copy is stored against your account on our server. Our server code stores and returns it without opening or reading it.

To delete it: turn the switch off, and the stored copy is deleted straight away. Deleting your account also deletes it.

5. AI features

The first time you use an AI feature, the App asks for your permission. Nothing is sent for AI processing before you agree. This covers every feature in the table below, including speaking to the coach and having a reply read aloud. After that, data is sent only when you use a feature (and for the daily coach insight on Home, described below). Requests go over an encrypted connection to our server, which forwards them to the provider.

Meal photo scanThe photo, plus your dietary preferences, allergies, health conditions and foods you have logged beforeAnthropic (Claude)
Describe a meal in wordsYour text, plus the same food context as above and today’s diary entries (food name, meal and calories)Anthropic

Coach chat also sends the last few messages of the conversation and short notes the coach kept from earlier chats. For an AI workout day, also your request and your current planAnthropic

Our server does not store your photos, messages, recordings or the AI’s answers. For each AI request it records usage details only (time, feature, model, token counts, the install identifier, the plan the App reports and whether the request succeeded) so that plan allowances can be applied. Voltra does not use your content to train AI models. Each provider handles the request under its own terms and privacy policy (section 10). AI answers can be wrong — see our Terms.

6. Analytics and diagnostics

Usage analytics. The App records events such as opening the App, finishing a workout, logging food, viewing the subscription screen, or starting or cancelling a subscription purchase (which plan), and which screens you open and for how long. These go only to our own server, which runs on Cloudflare. No analytics company receives them. With them the App sends the app build and the subscription plan it is on. Some events carry simple details such as the goal and focus you chose or how many sets a workout had. They never include your name, email, sex, age, weight or height, the foods you log, the weights you lift or Health data. The sign-up details saved with an account (section 4) are kept separately from these events.

The install identifier. Events carry a random identifier the App creates on install. It is kept in the iOS Keychain, so it can survive deleting and reinstalling the App. If you sign in, our server links your install identifier to your account, so usage recorded on our server can be associated with your account.

Crash and performance reports. iOS gives the App reports about crashes, freezes, heavy CPU use and heavy disk writes. The App sends the technical details (call stacks, app build, iOS version, device type) to our server only, with the install identifier.

Turning it off. Analytics is on by default. Turn off Share anonymous analytics in Settings → Privacy & Data to stop usage events, screen time and crash reports being sent.

How long we keep it. Our server deletes old records in a monthly clean-up, so on our server crash reports are deleted within about two months, individual events after about five months, and daily screen-time totals after about 14 months. We keep a record of the first time an install reached key steps (for example, first workout), and a per-request AI usage log (time, feature, model, token counts, install identifier), kept without a set deletion date.

Versions before 1.1. Earlier versions of the App also sent usage events, and short summaries of crashes, freezes and launch times, to two analytics services hosted in the EU, PostHog and Aptabase. Version 1.1 stopped this; updating the App ends it.

7. Notifications

Reminders such as the rest timer and meal reminders are scheduled on your iPhone. If you have allowed notifications, the App also registers with Apple’s push notification service and sends the resulting device token to our server, together with the install identifier, app version, iOS version and your chosen language. We use this only to send you notifications. You can turn notifications off any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → Voltra. When Apple tells us a token is no longer valid, we stop using it.

8. Location

If you allow it, Voltra uses your approximate location while you use the App to show local weather for outdoor cardio. The App rounds the location to about 1 km before using it, and sends that rounded location to Open-Meteo to fetch the forecast. It is not sent to our server and we do not store it. The App keeps it in memory for up to 30 minutes so it does not need a new location on every screen.

9. Other services the App uses

As with any web request, these services can see your device’s IP address. We do not send them your account or Health data.

11. Purchases, ads and tracking

Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple. We never see your card or payment details. Apple sends our server notices about subscription events (product, price, currency, country, dates and transaction numbers), and the App tells our server which plan it is on so the right allowances apply.

Voltra shows no ads, does not use Apple’s advertising identifier, does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and does not sell or share your personal data for advertising.

12. Deleting your account

Tap Delete account on your account page, or Delete Account in Settings → Privacy & Data. When you are signed in, the App first asks Apple to confirm it’s you. Our server then:

If Apple can’t be asked (for example, no Apple Account is signed in on the phone), your account is still deleted, but Apple is not told. You can remove Voltra yourself in iOS Settings → your name (Apple Account) → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple.

If our server cannot be reached, or does not confirm the deletion, nothing is deleted — not on the server and not on your phone — and the App lets you try again. If your sign-in has expired, the server cannot be asked to delete anything and the phone is signed out: you can sign in with Apple again and delete your account, or choose to wipe this phone only, which leaves your account and stored copy on our server.

Once the server confirms, the App disconnects WHOOP if you connected it and wipes everything Voltra keeps on your iPhone except the install identifier (section 6), your language, appearance and analytics choices, and a note of which subscription plan you are on (the subscription itself is managed by Apple). Anything Voltra wrote to Apple Health stays in Health, where you can delete it.

If you are not signed in, nothing on our server is tied to an account. The App wipes your iPhone in the same way. Usage records stored under the install identifier are kept as described in section 6, and you can email [email protected] to have them removed. If you signed in with Apple before and later signed out, your account and stored copy remain on our server until you sign in again and delete them.

After deletion we keep a closed record marked as deleted, holding only an internal account number and dates (such as when the account was created and deleted, and when its sign-in sessions were used and ended). It no longer holds Apple’s identifier for you, your email address, your username or your sign-up details. Usage records stored under the install identifier (sections 5 and 6) are no longer linked to any account, and are deleted or kept as described in section 6.

Deleting the App from your phone erases the data on your phone but does not delete your account or backup.

13. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export your data, or to object to how it is used. Email [email protected] and we will help.

14. voltragym.com

The website uses no analytics script and no cookies. Our server counts page views, the referring website, and visitors per day using a one-way hash of IP address and browser that changes every day, so a visitor cannot be followed from one day to the next. None of this can be tied to the App or an account.

15. Security and where data is processed

All connections use HTTPS. The keys for our AI, image and WHOOP services live only on our server, not in the App. Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union.

16. Children

Voltra is not meant for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has used the App, contact us and we will help remove the data.

17. Changes to this policy

When the App changes how it handles data, we update this page and the “Last updated” date above.
